From the fabulous Susan Carlson at the Felted Button comes the equally fabulous Window to the Whirl blanket, a visually stunning study in the crochet technique of intermeshing, a style of filet crochet which involves working two separate pieces of filet crochet simultaneously. The layers are interwoven as the crocheter alternates between the pieces, ultimately creating a reversible fabric with a breathtaking stained-glass effect.
This advanced-level project requires two Scheepjes Whirls of different but similar colorways and five Scheepjes Whirlettes in a single contrasting color. The original design was made with one Key Lime Pi Whirl, one Murderous Mint Whirl, and five Licorice Whirlettes. The original combination is available as a kit, but that's not all! StitchedNaturally has also worked with Susan to choose four additional colorways We feel would look fantastic as a Window to the Whirl.
Susan will be releasing her new pattern in two parts on her blog; the first, on April 19, and the second following it a week later on April 26. Best of all? The pattern will be FREE on Felted Button! A paid PDF of the complete pattern will be available for $2 on April 26 concurrent with the release of Part 2 of the pattern.
